The Donnsion Intergenerational Experience

The Friends of The Donnison School, have been empowering generations to come together and build a lasting legacy. The group have worked together, securing training as Intergenerational Champions and specialist theatre training.

As the finale of the project the intergenerational team including volunteers, children from Broadway Juniors School and The Canny Bunch Theatre Group, performed a brand new musical which charted the development of the Quayside Exchange Building from 1814 -2014.

Composed and written by the teenagers and including an original score of new songs.
The story of the building weaves through cameo characters that retell the building’s rich history, held together by songs and dance.

Joy Dagless, Chair of Friends, states “This was fantastic opportunity to take the story of this building and bring it to life for a new generation. The children have embraced history in a new way. It will have people singing and crying at what is really the people’s history of our town.”
